What are the modern methods of parenting?
Now let us have a look at some of the modern methods of parenting. Though parents prefer using the reward and punishment model, child development experts feel that corporal punishment is not effective in the present scenario. In fact the law has prohibited corporal punishment. Experts feel that beating or reprimanding a child physically cannot bring about the required change in the child. Behavioral change can be brought through parental guidance and supervision.
As per the "Nurturant parent model" a child explores the surroundings with necessary guidance and protection from the parents. If the child makes any mistake the parents are there to guide him/her and follow the correct path. If the “Strict father model” is followed then it helps the child to face the difficulties and survive in the harsh world as they have been nurtured with strong value of discipline.
“Christian parenting” are adopted by those parents who try to bring up their children by following the biblical methods. Various seminars are held to make people aware of these principles. Actually some of these methods are very authoritarian and strict and some are a mixture of ‘attachment’ and ‘positive’ parenting. It has been found out, through a research, that people following this method consider youth and children’s programs very important.
