What are parental duties?
Let us discuss some of the parental duties. A parent should provide physical security to the child, which involves the safety of life and body. The parent should also ensure that the child is provided with clothes, food and shelter. A child should be given proper medical treatment, if the need arises. Healthy growth of the child should be ensured. They should be in a position to provide adequate facilities for the all round physical development of the child. Side by side intellectual security should also be given to the child. A child should be able to learn properly if she or he is not physically or verbally abused. A good family provides an atmosphere of justice and peace.
A good parent also sees that the child is aware of the laws i.e. moral and nature. A parent also provides for the intellectual development of the child by making the child aware of the various social etiquettes. Proper values and ethics should be incorporated in the child’s behavior.
If the children are emotionally secured then they are strong enough to face any crisis in their life and for this, a sense of belonging and love should be provided to the children. Time to time encouragement also helps a lot. A little amount of hugging and caressing by the parents also contributes a lot in the proper emotional development of the children. If the child is cared for, then he/she also learns to care for others. They also learn to be compassionate towards the sick, weak, older and younger people. If the emotional bonding between the family members is developed, then the child is also emotionally attached towards the society. Good parenting also means to provide adequate financial support to the children. A parent should try to provide for the education of the child.
